Chers et chères collègues,
Vous trouverez ci-dessous un message de Frode Rønning, Président de ERME.
_________
Dear ERME Members,
This is to a large extent a repetition of the mail that I sent in the beginning of July, but with some new information, in particular regarding the election of new Board members.
First of all, the deadline for submissions to CERME15 in Bratislava is getting very close: The strict deadline for submitting papers and posters is 15 September 2026. Note that to have your submission reviewed, you must pay the pre-registration fee of 50 Euros. This fee is not refundable but will be deducted from the full registration fee when registering for the congress. The same deadline applies for applications for support from the Graham Littler Fund. More details can be found in the Second Announcement which has recently been published on the CERME15 website, see https://www.cerme15.org/second-announcement/
At CERME15, there will as usual be elected new members to the Board. The following Board members will leave at CERME15: Eirini Geraniou, Katalin Gosztonyi, Zelha Tunç-Pekkan, and Luca Lamanna. Eirini was elected as a non-regional representative, Katalin as a representative of Eastern Europe, Zelha as a representative of South Eastern Europe, and Luca as a Young Researcher representative.
This means that at CERME15 we will elect a new YR representative (for four years), a new non-regional representative and regional representatives from Eastern Europe and South Eastern Europe, each for six years. Which countries belong to which region is stated in Article 8 of the bye-laws, which can be found on the ERME site (https://erme.site/organization/).
I encourage you to think about suitable candidates, and in particular to be conscious of the gender balance. Note that three of the four leaving Board members are female. The current Board members are listed here, https://erme.site/erme-board/
To nominate candidates, a dedicated form must be filled out. This form can be downloaded from the ERME site (https://erme.site/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/ERME-BoardMember-NominationForm.docx). The deadline for proposing candidates is set to 18 December 2026. Send the completed nomination form by email to the President (frode.ronning@ntnu.no) and Secretary of the Board (hanna.palmer@lnu.se). Please note that a candidate must be nominated by two ERME members, and the candidate must agree to the nomination.
After the successful completion of YESS14 in August, it is time to think about YESS15 for the summer of 2028. On behalf of YERME, I invite you to consider the possibility of hosting a YERME Summer School in 2028. A call for bids has been published on the ERME site, see https://erme.site/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/YESS15-CallForBids.pdf The deadline for submitting bids is set to 30 November 2026. I welcome you to contact me before the deadline if you are thinking about placing a bid, even if you have not quite decided whether to do so.
Kind regards,
Frode
